Just wondering if anyone has tried Sea Spaghetti?  It comes from Ireland and is raw from everything I've read.  I've contacted the company just to be sure.  From what I've read, you soak it and then eat it....with or without sauce and also can be mixed into a salad.

It comes in 40g or 200g so I suppose I could just order the smaller size to try it!

It's seaweed. Looks pretty gross to me. At $22.50 for less than 9 ozzies, it's expensive, too. I have no idea how much shipping would be.

Jacquie, if you try it, let us know what you think! I'm not a seaweed person. I have a lifetime supply and I can't bring myself to eat it. Tastes like an aquarium needing cleaning smells.

I have tried the clear sea spaghetti.  It is made from clear, gelatinous seaweed, and tastes very neutral, quite good. I'll have to get the name of the brand Chef Adam uses @ Nature's Pantry.  I'll let you know when I find out!

Okay, here is the brand that is sold in the refrigerated section of health food stores and whole food.  The company is called Sea Tangle Noodle COmpany.  They use live, clear Kelp.  THe noodles are clear and are raw.  Do not freeze them.  They are about $2.28 for 12 oz in the refrigerated section.  Their website is  www.kelpnoodles.com  760.749.7575 is their number for info on ordering.

Interesting. I took a look at the site and couldn't find anything saying they are raw. Can you link me to the info re: the process they use to make the noodles?

I e-mailed the company about the clear sea noodles and got this reply:

Quote
Our kelp noodles are a raw food but probably not considered a whole food as the sea vegetable is not in its original, whole form.  Our mixed sea vegetables are a whole food and raw!

I may get some anyway since I need the iodine and can't handle the taste of the other sea veggies.

http://www.raw-pleasure.com.au/ has fish-free nori. Anyone know where it can be ordered in the States? Or Canada?

Tommie I bought some of the nori from raw pleasure but like you I buy seaweed, don't really like it, then it sits in the cupboard for years until I soak it in a bucket of water for a few weeks and feed the plants with it instead and no I have not tried making nori rolls with it yet.....hey I have only had it for 3 months.....don't rush me Grin

Ok it comes from the Gold Mine Natural Food co. San Diego www.goldminenaturalfood.com

I gotcha on your reluctance to try it, Peach. I used a couple of sheets out of some I got from a raw food company and gave the rest to my DD and merm. I was reading the reviews of this, though, and one says it tastes "cleaner". Maybe that's what I don't like about the other. It tastes dirty? I looked at the link you posted and it says nothing about fish-free. I've e-mailed them to find out. I'm good at e-mailing.  Grin

Tommie, I had a smell of the nori and it doesn't smell as strong as the others I have bought and never used. Grin  My brother wanted to know what it was yesterday when I got the web address off the packet and asked if he would like it so might make some nori rolls next week when he is here again.  Will report back if I do.
